One Baby Step at a Time

A short bit today, as I’m feeling worn down from feeling kinda sick. However, what a great time to revisit personal goals and influences! My mind tends to find shortcuts and realistic progress when I just need to make it through the day.

As of today, I have amassed 9 short poems jotted down around music time; typed up total of 7370 words that needed to be transferred; and read at least six finished chapters just because I got distracted. It has been 7 weeks since the start of the new year.

That is an average of:

  • 1.3 short poem
  • 1,050 words typed
  • & read almost a chapter every week

Considering the dreary winter weather and catching up with all other items, the numbers are passable. I would like to increase by 30% by the first day of spring, since more time = more energy = more events = more opportunities to squeeze words and inspiration. Writing is my sanctuary, if not a moving prayer at times. Increasing my weekly output would allow for creativity to flow and for blocks to be conquered.

The goals will become:

  • 1.69 short poems
  • 1,365 words typed
  • & read just over a chapter a week

Having steady words will help the initial review and editing I mentioned last week. Poems keep the squeaky wheels clean – and also work out the overused words and phrases I’m prone to repeat. One of these days, I should reveal some of my overused phrases.

In the meantime, I hope you find the ease to manage your creative groove; health and focus to reach the next goal; and the grace and comfort for restoration.
