Falling Asleep at the Screen

The problem with dreams is that you can’t catch them, you can barely even hold on to them. Despite your wild ambitions that run ahead, there is still no grounded principals to tether them to the real home you are building. These wisps of thoughts are not planks nor coins – they are instead electrical wires rooted deep into your system.

Ah, but that was never the point of the Dreamer. While mistaken for an illusion or misdirection, dreams were meant to be directional. They are indicators of where passion lies, the deeper fear of abandoned feelings and hurt. Nightmares are similar but different side of the coin. They are home to forgotten homes and deep perverse feelings of satisfaction and self-righteousness at the expense of a dreamscape you escape, leaving behind familiar mirages.

Crafting a life on dreams and hope alone is a recipe for madness.

Life is built upon the mundane, the repetitious hammering of planks and punctuation. There is no magical book that saves you from hours, if not weeks of labor. It will become tiresome, you will begin to lose the color of your vision. Your emotions will numb as your body aches from the strain of repetition. You get used to a routine that grates against you as you drive down to the store yet again to fill up that fridge you knew you just filled up last week.

It is all the same sounds and people till they all blend together into the same haze of that dreamscape you craved to chase. In fact, the tendrils of those dreams almost seem tangible at that point. It is as if you were already running.

Chasing after dreams indicates movement. You are meant to be taking action, to find the basics and build off of that established skill set. After all, these Dreams aren’t erroneous! They are directions as those skills and talents are sharpened and redefined on the ground level.

Your capability as a writer is based off of your inherent ability to communicate. You simply cannot fake an authentic voice. Trust me, AI can try to replicate it, but it will only reflect and enhance the voice of it’s wielder. Don’t worry about the robots.

Instead, focus on your communication flaws. I know I still repeat myself and take a long time to get to my point. That is a pattern for me to unlearn. It takes practice and a level of trust in the reader. And yes I trust you, it can sometimes be hard to believe in something or someone you cannot see. It is a matter of faith and willpower to continue to write.

Which brings us back to the elusive Dreams that scatter overhead, mixing into clouds and ever-changing sky. Impossible to fully grasp, we instead reach out with the insane idea of hope, mid-action, to pull them down like an escaping balloon. We built strength through routine and a sereneness from radical acceptance from just doing. Things may feel different mentally and emotionally, but that does not inhibit Dream catching. It just means after long hard work and aches and pains…

You have transformed into a Dream, either to yourself or others; and can now catch and transmute Dreams into possibilities for others.

If life has turned you dense and bitter, take comfort in nature. Allow the earth itself to hug you in the long grass, comfort you under a tree. Let the forest return you back to your childish instincts and imagination. Receive the song of water crash against the shore or the choir of a waterfall cheer you nearby. Give yourself back to the world and let it teach you how the plants also dream. From a spout under rotten, sprawling leaves to the creeping vines that wish to overcome an outstanding pine, Dreaming is inherent to living.

Find peace in this tumultuous world where you can.
