Into the Ides of March

It’s here, it’s here, it’s finally here!

Beyond being my birth month, March is my favorite time of the year – you can smell the rich dirt being tilled by worms, rain soaking into the thirsty grass, the plant pheromones that infiltrate the air. It comes with a type of madness, a violent optimism as life just pushes its way forward.

What does spring fever bring? The urge to de-clutter and weed out books. Surely I don’t need 13 books from second-hand shops. Perhaps there is a fellow writing friend who needs a boost of inspiration.

There is also a small bit of brain fog as daydreams settle back into view. What would success look like for me? Am I hoping to blog for the rest of my writing life? Or do I want to travel the globe with pen and notebook in hand.

If my favorite past-time is to sit in the middle of somewhere and absorb it all into a crystalized page, where would I want to do that? Maybe in the silence of Antarctica; the liveliness of Singapore; the hum of waves while passing fjords.

I wish to sit and capture moments throughout my days, as though I am scrambling to capture fairies in small glass bottles to bring home. But I also want to share them. Do they belong online? Or maybe I can pick some to craft and shape for the page. Compliment them with a few strokes of color.

My voice is caught in the roar of spring.

Where do you find yours?
