Kiss me softly under moonlight,
caress a cheek with a cool, even finger
to twist an errant curl, and uncurl the wound up spring
in my chest, growing underneath constant stress
till that single moment the lid is lifted.
Heart that leaps into open arms,
a mouth at one with air,
my own fingers finding your hair.
Together unleashed, hearts and tongues
are unbound and rewoven
into new and re-imagined patterns.
Promise me nothing, but remember
that joy comes from present gratefulness
and profound awareness.
much like the cactus that blooms at night,
I, too, wait for dark solitude
to let down petals of hair – gold silver upon dark –
and let bloom my own secret smile.
Eyes mirror the bright blue hue
of the moon’s halo.
I mind little habits and talents, purposefully withheld in order
to maintain strength and focus to grow
precious blooms for the right moment,
regardless of audience. All because
I garner the most elation by blossoming
into an unusual display in a dry land,
offering fruits of wisdom from my journey.
So, come find me under the stars,
kiss me softly under the moonlight
and delight in a display
that others simply miss.
