It’s that breath of fresh air teases around the shoulders,
draping its arms of sunlight casually on your back.
Trees’ green blush, their branches racing in anticipation,
building, growing to an eager bud’s flowery apex.
Cheeks, soft apple red, dappling with laughter’s dimples
as you carry onward across the fervent chirping lawn.
I tease and drift off in thought, waiting for my warmth
to quell from our insurmounting chemistry.
Is the chest restriction from my acute pollen allergy
or is it the twinge of something deeper?
Spring is singing a lulling tune, promising
to make the lengthening days far sweeter
than seasons that passed before.
I love the feel of the sun’s caress, from cheek
to the chill-sensitive lower back.
In the kiss of gentle breezes and
embrace of greening bushes,
I look up to find that Love expanding
from frozen ground will thaw into
a flirtation of Spring.
A Flirtation of Spring
