I’ve fallen into quiet
escaping from all noise.
I’m seeing things in shadows
and specks stuck in my eyes.
I hear the loud clatter
of a flimsy shower head
drip dripping an echoing splatter
down the hall to my bed.
A wooden expanse of a dorm
becomes an unwitting prison cell;
distant voices dance on dew grass
while I stir only with the bell.
Bong, bong, bong!
The party carries on.
Bong, bong, bong!
Siblings join in the song.
Bong, bong, bong!
I struggle back in the swollen purpling night.
Bong, bong, bong.
And panic returns as the party falls out of sight.
